Finding a job at Intel's Columbus plant – Columbus CEO

Intel is coming to Ohio, and it’s doing it in a big way. Earlier this year the semiconductor company announced it would build two factories in Licking County with a $20 billion investment. The location is expected to be up and running by 2025 with the help of some 7,000 construction jobs.
To staff those new factories, Intel will employ 3,000 workers with an average salary of $135,000 per year.
Until recently, there hasn’t been much information about the specific roles Intel will be looking to fill, though many jobs posted online for the chip manufacturer’s Chandler, Arizona, expansion are a good example of what to expect, says Lisa Malloy, head of global government communications at the company.
In an interview for Columbus CEO’s June issue, Cindi Harper, Intel’s vice president of talent planning and acquisition, said 70 percent of the 3,000 workers will be manufacturing technicians, who typically hold a two-year degree in a STEM field.
Another quarter of the employees will be engineers, she said. About half of those hires will hold a bachelor’s degree, about 35 percent will have a master’s and 5 percent will be doctorate-level hires.
She estimates the final 5 percent will have roles in sales, marketing, finance and human resources.
